Awareness of the Saudi community toward multiple sclerosis in Al-Madinah Al- Munawarrah, Saudi Arabia

Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory neurodegenerative disease affecting the central nervous system (CNS); pathophysiological concepts revealed that exposure to some infectious agents during childhood and genetics involvement played a role. Data reported females were more affected by MS than males due genetic predisposition. Recent epidemiological data indicated higher prevalence of in Arabian Gulf region, with increasing incidence Kingdom Saudi Arabia (KSA). Knowledge about shall aid better management, diagnosis treatment. This study aimed assess level awareness among participants Al Madinah Munawarrah, KSA. Methods: was cross-sectional non-interventional observational survey questionnaire 381 Madinah. Results: The majority female aged 20 years old high graded; 66.4% good MS, 68% impact system, causing illness between 20-39 years. Regarding risk factors towards Family history personal autoimmune diseases on top list relation 43.3% 38.1%, respectively. Conclusions: In summary, our shed light lack knowledge adult population AL A understanding contribute diagnosing management.
